Dolors Manuel-Riu, Clinical Psychologist

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with twenty years of clinical experience working for the NHS in addiction services and general community mental health settings. My experience includes working with addictive and compulsive behaviours, trauma, anxiety and depression. In the past nine years, I have specialised in gambling addiction whilst working at the leading NHS gambling clinic.

I am a registered motivational Interviewing practitioner and trainer, and alongside my clinical work I regularly provide MI training and supervision for a range of health professionals. I have also provided training on pathological gambling and behavioural addictions for mental health services, master’s degree courses and the British Psychological Society.

As a therapist, I provide evidence-based psychological interventions. During the assessment we will explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve or change. We will work together to better understand your difficulties and agree on a treatment plan with clear and specific goals.

Finding the right therapist is not easy at times and an initial conversation can be set up to help you decide if you wish to proceed with a course of therapy.

I work with people with a wide range of difficulties, but have particular expertise in the following areas:

  • Gambling addiction
  • Alcohol addiction
